Know that forces can be pushes or pulls. The weight of an object depends on gravity, gravity is a force, buoyancy is a force acting against gravity. The buoyant force is always equal to the weight of the displaced fluid (Archimedes' Principle). The buoyant force acts on objects whether they float or sink.
